Jean "Peep Eye" Bryson

November 13, 2017

Jean “Peep Eye” Bryson was born October 1, 1926, and died November 13, 2017. She was preceded in death by her mother Louise and father Marshall Harck, brother Theodore Harck, husband Robert Smith Bryson, and son Robert Charles (Chuck) Bryson.

She was a homemaker and mother of seven children – Bonnie Gibson of Houston, Doreen Vail and husband Skip of Columbus, Patricia Holland and husband John of New Braunfels, twins Chuck Bryson (deceased) and Carolyn Rodriguez of Houston, and Brenda Hobbs and husband Mark Mitchell of Houston, and Bradley Bryson and wife Lisa of Columbus. Jean had eleven grandchildren, Monty and Clay Locke, Stephen Nelson, Jr., Jennifer Nelson Cruz, Lori Vail, Teri Vail, Hunter, Kristen, and Robert Holland, and Brooke and Brandon Bryson. Jean had thirteen great grandchildren.

Jean moved to Columbus in 1964 when they purchased Town & Country Laundry and Cleaners. Shortly thereafter she joined First Baptist Church and has been a life-long member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She devoted her life to her children, grandchildren and homemaking. After they closed the laundry business they saw the opportunity to establish a Sears Catalogue Store here.

After her children were grown, Jean went back to her first love which was art. She was an accomplished artist who loved watercolors and painted many gorgeous pictures. She was a member and officer of the Live Oak Art Center. For fun Jean loved to travel and play golf and cards with Bob and their group of friends.

She will be greatly missed by her family.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 17, 2017 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Glidden Baptist Church in Glidden. A Memorial service will follow Friday, 11:00 am with Clayton Wallin officiating.
