Elbertha Hohlt

Elbertha (Birdie) Marie Hohlt, 95, passed away on Monday, September 25, 2017.

Birdie was born on September 30, 1921 at Shaw's Bend to Charles and Mary Lipperdt. She attended school in Columbus, TX and on October 20, 1945 she married Harold W. Hohlt. They made their home in Columbus where they lived all their lives. Birdie was a faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran Church all her life, and also was a member of Mary Martha Society Church Council, the choir, and later a member of the bereavement committee.

Birdie is survived by her five nieces, Coy Dell Schindler and her husband Jack of Columbus, TX, Joyce Schlechte and her husband Leroy of Kerrville, TX, Jean Herzik and her husband Johnny of Giddings, TX, Linda Ballard and her husband Victor of Columbus, TX and Linda Lipperdt of Columbus, TX; her nephew, Lester Lipperdt and his wife Emma of Missouri City, TX; four step-nieces, Rebecca Mayo and her husband Rickey of Columbus, TX, Karen Havel and her husband Daniel of Katy, TX, Sharon Besch of Cistern, TX, and Margaret Besch of Columbus; three step-nephews, Leonard Besch and his wife Kathy of Rosenberg, TX, Charles Besch and his wife Brenda of Eagle Lake, TX, and Franklin "Pete" Besch of Denver, CO; many great nieces and nephews; and many, many friends.

She was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Mary (Chollett) Lipperdt; husband, Harold W. Hohlt; two brothers, Lester and Herbert Lipperdt; two stepbrothers, Howard and Ernest Besch; her nephew and godson, Wayne Lipperdt; and her step-nephews, Ernest William Besch and Howard William "Shorty" Besch.

Funeral service will be held Friday, September 29, 2017 at 11:30 am at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Columbus, TX, with Pastor John Hunsicker and Pastor Alan Kethan officiating.

Visitation will be held on Thursday at Henneke Funeral Home, Columbus, TX, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm and at Church, Friday, from 10:30 am to 11:30 am.

Serving as pallbearers will be Gary Schindler, Lester R. Lipperdt, Glenn Lipperdt, Mike Poppe, Daryl Herzik, Joe W. Schindler, and Warren Schlechte.

Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Henneke, Kenny Venghaus and Allen Schindler.
