William "Big Henry" Henry Schneider, Jr.

December 5, 1951 - July 7, 2017

William Henry "Big Henry" Schneider, Jr., 65, of Columbus, Texas passed away on July 7, 2017 in Houston, TX.

He was born on December 5, 1951 to William and Emma (Leyendecker) Schneider in Columbus, TX. As a teenager, he spent many hours on horseback herding cattle and building fences with his family, friends, and neighbors. After graduating Columbus High School in 1970, he began his 46-year career as a welder. On October 15, 1971, he married his high school sweetheart, Rhonda Kay Windham. He spent a few years welding for other companies before joining his fatherís business, Schneider Machine and Welding, which eventually he bought out in 1991. Rhonda and Henry raised four children in the Columbus home they built together where the family still lives today.

Henry was always willing to dedicate his time to the community he loved. He was a past director and lifetime member of the Colorado County Fair Board as well as the chairman of the Colorado County Fair BBQ cookoff, an active member of the Columbus FFA Alumni, and although never a member, he enjoyed cooking for the Knights of Columbus Council #2971 in Columbus. He also cooked for the Colorado County Fair entertainers, the Little League BBQ, and the St. Anthonyís Parish Picnic.

His hobbies included competing in BBQ contests, hunting, fishing, and horseback riding with his kids and grandkids. He thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and helping with the family ranching business.

William is survived by his wife, Rhonda Kay Schneider of Columbus, TX, mother, Emma Leyendecker Schneider, father-in-law, Marshall Windham of Columbus, TX, daughter, Emily Kay Skokna and husband Scott of Katy, TX, sons, William Henry Schneider V and wife Racheal of Columbus, TX, Charles "Chip" Schneider of Columbus, TX, and Peter "Luke" Schneider and girlfriend Katherine Powers of Columbus, TX, sister, Mary Strickland of Houston, TX, brother, Robert "Louie" Schneider and wife Charlene of Blue, OK, and 5 Grandchildren, Ella Rose Schneider, William Henry Schneider VI, Edison Marshall Skokna, Elliott Henry Skokna, and Iris Catherine Skokna, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Henry Schneider, and mother-in-law, Mary Windham.

Visitation will be held Monday, July 10, 2017 from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm, Tuesday, July 11, 2017, 8:00 am - 12:00 pm at Henneke Funeral Home, Columbus, TX St. Anthony Catholic Church in Columbus, TX Tuesday, July 11, 2017, 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm.

A parish prayer service and rosary will be held Monday at 7:00 pm at Henneke Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 11, 2017, 2:00 pm at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Columbus, TX, with Father Abraham Berko, officiating.

Burial will take place in St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery in Columbus, TX.

Pallbearers are Mark Barten, John Buxkamper, Charles Harbich, Carl Hillmer, BJ Malatek, Ivan Menke, Calvin Roensch, Louie Schneider, Clayton Wallin, and Neal Zajicek. Honorary pallbearers are Charles Besch, Jim Kleimann, Glen Knigge, Victor Leopold, Steve Potter, Larry Solansky, Terrell Windham, Bobby Zajicek, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
