Charles Edward Besch

January 18, 1951 - April 10, 2018

Charles Edward Besch, 67, passed away on April 10, 2018 at his residence in Eagle Lake, Texas surrounded by his loved ones.

Charles was born on January 18, 1951 to Ernest M. Besch and Louise Edith (Ripper) Besch in Weimar, Texas. He was a 1970 graduate of Columbus High School and in September of the same year he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He was honorably discharged from the United States Air Force with the rank of Sergeant in May of 1974, which included thirteen months served overseas at Teagu Air Force Base, South Korea. On March 29, 1978, he married Brenda Berger of Schulenburg, Texas.

Charles grew up in Alleyton, Texas. His hobbies at an early age were hunting and filling his parentís freezer with catfish caught in the Colorado River. After a forty-four year career in the industrial distribution industry he retired on January 31, 2018 from Applied Industrial Technologies in Eagle Lake, Texas. Charles enjoyed hunting with close friends at the deer lease in the Texas Hill Country, fishing, gardening and canning, especially pickles, barbequing chicken, cooking a pot of stew and working in his yard. He also enjoyed his time spent with family and friends.

Charles is survived by his wife of forty years, Brenda Besch of Eagle Lake, Texas; son, Brandon Besch and wife, Amy Besch of Eagle River, Alaska; daughter, Amanda Boenigk and husband, Justin Boenigk of College Station, Texas; sister, Karen Havel and husband, Daniel Havel of Katy, Texas; brother, Leonard Besch and wife, Kathy Besch of Rosenberg, Texas; sister-in-law Margaret Besch of Columbus, Texas; brothers-in-law and their spouses, Kenneth and Louise Berger, Arlen and Candace Berger and brother-in-law Robert Ulrich; three grandchildren, Daisy Mae Besch, Wyatt Edward Besch, Emerson Charles Besch; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest M. and Louise Besch; parents-in-law, Victor and Della Berger; brother, Ernest W. Besch; and sister-in-Law, Vivian Ulrich.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 13, 2018 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Henneke Funeral Home, Columbus, Texas, followed by a parish prayer service and rosary at 7:00 pm.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2018 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Columbus, Texas, followed with Funeral Services at 2:00 pm at the Church.

Burial will take place in the St. Rose Catholic Cemetery in Schulenburg, Texas.

Pallbearers include: Felix Buxkemper, John Buxkamper, Charles Harbich, Taylor Potter (Steve), Will Schneider (Henry), and Richard Sommerlatte.

Honorary pallbearers include: Heath Besch, Dean Bowden, Wesley Fisher, Kevin Cantrell, Chad Simmonds, Kevin Wise, Chris Berger, Chuck Simon, Jason Berger, Allan Valigura, Johnny Prazak, and David LaGroue.
